1. Danish Philosopher Soren Kierkegaard once asked, "Are all who call themselves Christian, Christian?" Do you think it's likely or unlikely that everyone who participates in the Christian religion is a genuine Christian, and why? 2. In Luke 4:18-19, who are the people to whom Jesus is sent? What is the message he is sent to proclaim? 3. In Luke 4:28-29, what happened when Jesus took his message to his own people in his hometown? Why were they so angry? What does that tell us about them? 4. What is our spiritual responsibility to the people in our lives? Have you been willing to risk rejection to make sure of the state of souls of those in your life? What comfort can we find to risk and endure rejection from Jesus in today passage, especially v. 30? 5. Should you assume someone is a Christian just because they say they are? Should you assume someone is not a Christian if they say they are? What are the implications of your answers to both questions? What would you like to differently? How will you go about it? |
