Priorities: What are the most desirable priorities for me as a believer in business?

1. What are the important things a Christian might do in business that would be different from what a non-Christian might do? What important things might be the same?_________________________________________________________

2. Read Luke 4:42-44. Imagine that you are Jesus. People are begging you not to leave. What is going through your mind? Why don’t you stay? How do you decide?_________________________________________________________

3. What are your work priorities, or what would you like them to be? How do you decide? Pick one, and over the next week think about how to apply it each day. _________________________________________________________

What Are They ….

Something to which I assign precedence or urgency.
“Prioritize” means arrange in order of importance.
To decide in advance what’s important.
Grid to distinguish opportunity from distraction.
Filter to keep daily choices on track (e.g., time, money).
“Pre-decisions” to help maintain my focus.
Enough time for 5 top concerns.
Examples: God, Wife, Children, Finances, Health, Work, Ministry, Hobby or Sport.

Why Important ....

I’m writing my history in advance.
If I don’t decide, others will decide for me.
I can only handle about 5 major things.
I want to get it right.
Priorities give me a tie-breaker to allocate limited time and money.

THE BIG IDEA: Businessman or Minister? Same thing.

2. Purpose: What are God's purposes for me in the marketplace?

THE BIG IDEA: "You’re in charge until I get back."

3. Integrity : To what standard should I hold myself, and what should I do when I fail?

THE BIG IDEA: The 10 Commandments and the Golden Rule.

4. Witnessing: What are the limits and possibilities of sharing my faith in the marketplace?

THE BIG IDEA: Loud actions. Quiet voice.

5. Performance: How can I balance the need to perform with the command to love and serve others?

THE BIG IDEA: What is my duty to Jesus Christ?

6. Wealth: What does God say about making money, profit success, and charity?

THE BIG IDEA: Money is a wonderful servant, but a ruthless master.

7. Prayer: Is it okay to pray for business success?

THE BIG IDEA: To not pray for success is to dishonor Him.

8. Leadership: What does the Bible say that can strengthen and empower my leadership?

THE BIG IDEA: Hot fire makes good steel.

9. People: What should be different about the way we treat customers, employees, and bosses?

THE BIG IDEA: I can be a man of grace or a man of grudge.

10. Planning: What advice does the Bible offer about making plans?

THE BIG IDEA: Our plans are under the protection of His plans.
