Repeating the Mistakes
of Our Fathers
Exodus 20:4-6, Psalm 78:1-7
Questions
- What
was your dad like? How have you followed in his footsteps? How have
you chosen a different way?
- Exodus
20:4-6 presents an intergenerational warning and a promise for family
lines. What are they? How has your family line suffered for the sins
of your fathers, perhaps something that happened long ago? How has
your family line prospered because of the faith of your fathers?
- ANSWER
ONE OF THE FOLLOWING TWO QUESTIONS:
- One
of the biggest mistakes dads make is fathering for performance. What
is the difference between fathering for performance and fathering
the heart? How can Jesus Christ redeem your family line through fathering
the hearts of your children?
- Have
you repeated the sins of your fathers? If so, how can you break the
cycle?
How will you go about it? (Plan two or three concrete things you will
do within the next several days and ask the men in your group to hold
you accountable).
