Session 11 - A Man Winning His Spiritual Struggle

1 Samuel 17

Questions

1. Everyone has "giants" to battle from time to time. Do you have one now and, if so, what is it?

2. What are the reasons a man would not want to admit he is struggling?

3. Where do your struggles come from-outside (the world and the devil) or inside (the flesh)? How are Christ and the Holy Spirit able to help you according to Hebrews 4:15-16 and Galatians 5:16-18?

4. Whose battle is it according to 1 Samuel 17:47? Where does victory come from according to Proverbs 21:31? How should this change the way we talk about our "giants" and struggles?

PERSONAL REFLECTION:
Early in my spiritual journey I "denied" what I was really feeling inside-fear, anger, pride, lust, ambition-because I thought it disqualified me from being spiritual. Now I realize that to be spiritual I must "process" those feelings and bring them into submission to the authority of God and His Word. Does this ring any bells that can help you along the way on your own spiritual journey?
