1. Have you found a particular way of praying that is satisfying to you? If so, describe it for the other men. 2. The disciples asked Jesus how to pray. This morning a model for daily prayer was offered based on The Lord's Prayer: "WoRK". The first part, based on Matthew 6:9, is "Worship"-to bring one's self into the real presence of God for reverence, praise, thanksgiving, and fellowship with Him. How often do you sense the real presence of Jesus Christ? What has been mentioned today that is of interest to you, and why? 3. The second part, based on Matthew 6:11-13, is "Renewal"-to bring yourself before God as a humble beggar looking for spiritual, emotional, and physical bread. You will pour out your heart to God-whatever you desire-but you will be sure to include:
Should you do this daily, and why or why not? Jack Miller said, "Preach the gospel to yourself every day." Why is a regular renewal into the gospel so important? How could a time of daily renewal using this model invigorate you? 4. The third part of this model, based on Matthew 6:10, is "Kingdom"-to bring yourself into alignment with The Kingdom Program, aka "God's To Do List." We do this by praying that His kingdom and will might invade the world. We ponder what God is doing and wanting to do in the world and offer intercession for both believers and non-believers. We think about God's plan to set apart a people for Himself and ask Him to show us our part in the Kingdom plan this day. Do you approach life from a Kingdom perspective? How would praying this way better focus you on God's Kingdom plan? |
