Discussion Questions

1. What is the difference between a symptomatic problem and systemic problem? Is the "more/fewer distinction" helpful in any way and, if so, how?

2. Three motivating reasons why we should "go" were presented today-authority, scatter, and overflow. Which one most resonated with you? From the following three questions, answer the ONE that most piques your interest.

  • AUTHORITY: God is a sending God. What does Jesus say about this in John 17:18-20? What does that mean to you?

  • SCATTER: How have you seen the principle from Acts 8:1-4 at work in your own life, or someone else? Isn't God awesome!

  • OVERFLOW: Once-a-week Christians live out of their reserves. Daily disciples live in the overflow. What is the difference? Where are you?

3. Check as many of the following statements as apply, then explain why.

__ This is all new to me
__ I knew about this, but had not seen how central and important it is
__ I knew about this, but thought it was for someone else
__ I know all this, but have never gotten engaged
__ I used to make disciples, but for some reason have gotten away from it
__ I'm ready to act, but I don't know where to start
__ I'm ready to act, and I know exactly what I'm going to do
__ I'm fully engaged in discipleship to the praise and glory of our God
