One place you won't find them is in church. Less than 40 percent of adults in most churches are men, and 20 to 25 percent of married churchgoing women attend without their husbands. And why are the men who do go to church so bored? Why won't they let God change their hearts? David Murrow's groundbreaking new book reveals why men are the world's largest unreached people group. With eye-opening research and a persuasive grasp on the facts, Murrow explains the problem and offers hope and encouragement to women, pastors, and men. Why Men Hate Going to Church does not call men back to the church-it calls the church back to men. (Publisher’s Notes). In the coming months we will be studying 1 Samuel 17 as an example of spiritual warfare. We will define the enemy, describe the way the world responds to the enemy, and focus on the reaction of the spiritual warrior. What is spiritual warfare? Is it the major conflicts we face between good and evil or is it the daily choices between godly thoughts, words and deeds and the temptation to pursue our own desires? Paul said ”Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Eph 6:11-13 (NIV) Since Satan uses any means for attacking us in our walk, spiritual warfare is a daily conflict. In fact, the first battle we face is to understand that we are engaged in spiritual warfare 24/7. Next month: The Battlefield. The mark of a warrior for the Lord: Calluses on the knees! |
