May 2006 C&MA Men’s E-Newsletter

Impact
During an emphasis on the deeper life, a man wrestled with the concept of Spirit control. A few nights later he lay awake in bed for several hours while the Lord revealed what he had been doing in the man's life. It was a time of an uninterrupted and focused time with God.

A man was seeking job change which meant relocation out of the area. He received an enticing job offer from a company in an area near his family. He laid the decision before the Lord and the Lord responded with an unequivocal “No!"

News
Challenge 300. C&MA Men's Ministry is looking for 300 men willing to contribute $1000 each to fund the 2008 New Official Workers Forum on an Alliance mission field. There will be a short-term mission trip in conjunction with the forum. Join Gideon's army by contacting Jim Woods at jewoods3@juno.com.

Life
Character That Counts (CTC). CTC was established to communicate the unique and critical message of character (doing right), integrity (being whole through Christ) and accountability (honestly reporting to one another) into our daily lives. The primary audience of the ministry is men (equipping them to fulfill their calling in their homes, marriages and professions) and students (providing seminars and materials to instruct teens and young adults in churches and ministries as well as in public, private and home schools). The website/ministry of the month.

Reclaiming Priorities of Biblical Manhood. Our society has a very warped view of masculinity, says Pastor Ted Haggard. The view has changed because of the transition from a rural to an urban society where the definitions of family and work have been altered. We can reclaim biblical manhood through (1) developing a strong philosophy of life, (2) a strong philosophy of church, and (3) a strong philosophy of government. Our call to biblical manhood means that we understand that the gospel is always on the move and that we need to step up to the call. The article of the month.

New Event for Your Men
Rewired: From Performance to Passion
Men are wired for so much more than what the world communicates. Most men are taught to be self-sufficient and learn from an early age that performance equals merit. Guys spend so much time pursuing happiness through things or people that have absolutely no chance of ever giving it to them.

Our goal is to rewire the way men think and help them to escape the performance trap. The REWIRED seminar will help them see Christianity is not about behavior modification, but about heart transformation. This event provides simple truths to help your men build their faith on fertile ground. It will also help you capture the momentum from the event and get men into your long-term discipleship process.

Email Pam Adkins pamadkins@maninthemirror.org for more information about hosting this event in your church.

Coaching for Kingdom Impact
A career is what you're paid for, but a calling is what you're made for. You know what you're hired to do; do you know what you're wired to do? Led by Bob Shank, The Master's Program is the small-group and coaching equivalent of an executive MBA in Kingdom Leadership, serving Christian leaders who want to change their world and build God's kingdom. Check it out at www.mastersprogram.org. Website/Ministry of the Month.

Reboot (with 1 Samuel 17:23-26)
The Enemy: While the enemy does not appear in these verse. He has already stirred the pot. He is just sitting back and watching.

The World: Impatient: his brother has no time for the uninitiated. Go back home. Tend your flock. Take care of your responsibilities. There was pent-up frustration. The ultimate put down. Who are you to be inserting yourself in our battle. What do you know. All you are is a herder of a few sheep. The world becomes the enemy. Infighting. Anger and energy are turned inward. Where is your focus?

The Spiritual Warrior: David was unjustly accused. Confident: responds to his brother's challenge.

David's questions indicate that he saw himself as part of the army, part of the battle.

"The best use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts it."
