Impact One man is learning to set spiritual goals for his quiet time. He is moving from a spontaneous to an intentional and focused quiet time. The NCMM meeting was powerful because it gave every leader a voice in the future direction of the movement. Under the very capable leadership of our president, Rick Kingham, we worshipped together, gave and received encouragement, heard uplifting updates from the ministries present, felt a positive mood, renewed old friendships and made new ones, established contacts, made strategic alliances, and coordinated strategic initiatives. NCMM is also valuable because it blunts the effects of the Fall. The meeting helped us toward victory over suspicion, jealousy, envy, gossip, competition, duplication, strategic overlaps, and strategic gaps. Promising new initiatives were discussed, including:

Emerging from the Shadows. The confession was on the tip of my tongue, and I trembled at the thought of revealing it. It was 1997, and I was about to tell the woman I wanted to marry that I had a long-term addiction. Not to drugs or to alcohol, but to photos. The term is “pornography addiction,” and the shame and fear it visits on so many men in and out of the church is staggering. As a young boy I came across an adult magazine in my father’s sock drawer. It was captivating. It was stimulating. It was humiliating. I didn’t really understand why there would be pictures of women in my daddy’s drawer, yet even at six or seven years of age I knew that it was wrong that I had seen them. Men, how can you learn to say “no” to sexual temptation? How can you gain and maintain sexual purity? How can you teach sexual purity to your children? He was unfazed by what David had said to him about his pending death. The World: It is still absent from the action. It is still a spectator at best. The Spiritual Warrior: David ran quickly toward the battle line …Quickly meant there was no hesitation, no holding back. His action was decisive. He acted without fear. Someone has reported that the phrase “fear not!” appears 365 times in the Bible (one for each day of the year). David followed up on his words with action.
