February 2007 C&MA Men’s E-Newsletter

Impact
The Lord has been working in one man who is facing some very real challenges. He is coming to confess that the Lord is on the throne and in control in spite of appearances to the contrary.

One man is learning to set spiritual goals for his quiet time. He is moving from a spontaneous to an intentional and focused quiet time.

The Lord is leading another man in developing a spiritual mission statement.

Life
Encourage Men To Pray Ministries, Inc. grew out of the need to encourage others to remember that the LORD JESUS CHRIST is the source of our strength and that we need to pray for HIS leading in all things. Our goal is to...

...Encourage. Men today are under more and more pressure to perform. Critics are not hard to find; negativity abounds. 1 Thes 5:24 says, "He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it." NKJV more>>

...Inspire. What is God doing today in the lives of men? As we travel the country meeting men, we find God moving mightily among them. One young man in Alabama led 3 girls to Christ over the Internet in two days! more>>

...Challenge. Coach Bill McCartney once said, "Men, we are in a war...but we haven't been at war...we've been retreating." Retreating. We do not have to retreat. Ephesians 6 says that God has given us His full armor to STAND. more>>

...Affirm. Men of all ages want to know that they are loved by God and others. Someone said, "Men, your work is not who you are, but what you do." Regardless of age, race, culture, economic status, everyone has value in our eyes and in the eyes of Almighty God! more>>

Leadership

Advancing Together: The Case, Strategy, and Guidelines for Men’s Ministry. This is a C&MA Men’s Ministry adaptation of an article by Dr. Dan Erickson, Director of People Matter Ministries. It lays out a solid reason why our churches need to meet the needs of men. It combines the Promise Keeper’s men’s ministry funnel with Man in the Mirror’s “create value, capture momentum, and sustain momentum” model. The article suggests ways that smaller churches can carry out men’s ministry. Click here to download the article of the month.

There is more to life than…“… I now place a lot more emphasis on my family, my children, and above all my wife. What a dramatic improvement this has produced in my marriage, my career, and my life. I'm more content and happier than I've ever been.” Frank Dindl shared this with us after hearing Patrick speak at a men’s event that there is more to life than money and career success.

What difference could a men’s event mean in the lives of men in your church? Host a Man in the Mirror seminar this year. They will walk you through it step by step. You can make a difference in the lives of the men (and their families) in your church. Click here to schedule your next seminar.

Reboot (with 1 Samuel 17:49-50)
The Enemy:... and he fell facedown on the ground. The enemy was brought down, face down. The total loss of face. Face – the unprotected area.

The enemy suffered a head injury. “He will crush his head and you will strike his heel.” (Gen 3:15): Upon being hit by a stone the size of a baseball, Goliath’s head would have whipped back and he would have fallen back. However, Goliath was moving forward. In addition, the weight of his armor would have been on the front. With loss of consciousness his knees buckled and he fell forward, face down.

The World: Continues to be a spectator. Not involved.

The Spiritual Warrior: …with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand … David struck down Goliath. David hit Goliath with a stone the size of a baseball traveling at 100 miles per hour. The sling and stone was not a weapon of war. It was a weapon used by shepherds to fend off predators attacking sheep. The shepherd boy destroyed the giant. It was humility and dependence on the Lord against power, and position. Power and position lost.

With what do you fight your battles? Are they your battles or are they the Lord’s?

God’s path ahead can often be discerned
by looking at His grace in the past.
