Focus
My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. (Psalm 62:7)

Impact
Several years ago, a man began to pray diligently for a friend with significant issues in his life and who was not strongly connected to his church. The man’s life eventually changed and he became involved in church and a men’s small group. About nine months after joining the group, the man died of cancer. The leader of the small group reported that there was a major change in the small group discussions. The man’s death caused the men to focus more seriously about their lives and the seriousness with which they took their relationship with the Lord.

News
From Jose Cornier, Puerto Rico District: We celebrated our annual retreat in Cidra Puerto Rico, Feb 29-Mar 2. I would like to thank every brother who prayed for us. We had a remarkable victory, One hundred ninety five men attend the retreat and 21 men accepted Jesus as their personal savior. Thanks for your prayers. Continue forward and Jesus will give the victory.

From Gene Goldsmith, Pacific Northwest District. We had a very successful retreat, March 7-9. We tried something new this year and had four of our district pastors deliver a message on Holiness. The guys loved it and many signed up to help us build out here. Eighty men attended from 12 churches, up from 53 and seven churches last year. Using the four pastors from the district was well received. The speakers did a great job, and will work with us to help us grow the C&MA Men’s Ministry in our district.

Reboot (with Joshua) Fear and Hope (Joshua 2:8-13)

I know that the LORD has given this land to you and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you."

Word traveled far and fast. The Israelites were victorious over Sihon and Og and the Canaanites knew they were next. As Rahab indicated, the Canaanites were more afraid of the God of Israel than the rag-tag army of Israel. Jericho was a great fortification – yet the king and the people were in great fear.

There is a clear contradiction here. The Canaanites, Rehab included, understood that their gods were no match for the God of Israel. Yet the Canaanites were going to hold fast to their belief system in spite of pending death and destruction.

Rahab, on the other hand, was willing to abandon her belief system and sought protection from the God of Israel and the imminent destruction of Jericho.

As a disciple of the Lord, are you abandoning the belief systems of this age? Have you fully gone over to the Lord’s side? Have you placed your full trust in the Lord?

"You cannot make men good by law: and without good men you cannot have a good society." - C.S. Lewis
