But you O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. —Psalm 3:3

Director’s Report

Happy New Year! God has blessed the ministry of Florida Men of Integrity and opened the door for FMI to have a greater influence for The Kingdom in 2007! It is a privilege and an honor to serve for Jesus and participate in what God is doing in the Earth!

FMI will be hosting three Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Conferences in 2007 and increasing the number of training sessions and seminars available to support the local churches throughout Florida in their ministries to and through men.

2007 will also be a time of celebration. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of Florida Men of Integrity. A two-day celebration is scheduled for July 12-13 in Gainesville. The Celebration will begin with a special banquet held at the beautiful Best Western Gateway Grand Hotel on Thursday evening. We are pleased that Rev. Dale Schlafer will be the keynote speaker at the banquet. Special music and entertainment are also scheduled for the banquet. On Friday the vision for FMI and the future of ministry to and through men in the local church will be shared, followed by a special lunch. The 10th Anniversary Celebration will conclude with a Steve Green concert at Westside Baptist Church. FMI plans to offer a two-day package which includes preferred seating at the concert for only $50 per person. The Best Western Gateway Grand Hotel will make discounted rooms available for those coming to the Celebration from out of town.

Please keep the men of FMI in your prayers. The enemy would like to cause disruption, discouragement, confusion and division, but our God is greater! We cherish your friendship and your prayers. Help us to impact the world for Jesus. Pray for us!

I hope to see you at one of the Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Conferences this year. For more information about the upcoming conferences, retreats, seminars, training sessions and other men’s events and men’s ministry opportunities, go to www.floridamenofintegrity.org or www.IronSharpensIron.net.

Again, Happy New Year. God bless you and the United States of America!

Love Fruit!

David Dusek
Events Coordinator
The Sunday morning after Thanksgiving was just as hectic as it always is around my house. It takes 3 hours to get my 5 kids ready for church and another hour just to get them loaded in the mini-van. This was, however, a much different Sunday than any other we had ever had as a family. This was the Sunday that I would be delivering the message to the congregation at Bethesda Word of Faith Church in Sarasota, an inner city church located in the predominantly poor area of town known as Newtown. In the previous month in Newtown, there had been several shooting deaths and drugs and homelessness are more of the rule than the exception.

The pastor, Peter Greenidge, and I had become friends and associates over the months prior, and Sunday, November 26th was dubbed “Men’s Super Sunday” (where the men in attendance performed music and sat together in the front of the congregation). Surprisingly, the congregation was comprised of roughly 60% youth and children, most of them being young men and women in their teens.

This was a first for me, by the way. I was the “keynote speaker” and I had to follow perhaps the best funk Gospel trio that I had heard in a very long time. In preparation, most of my time was spent on my knees, listening intently to God. He was faithful in His reply, and a message was birthed specifically for the inner city youth and men of the church. As a result of God’s message, over 25 men and young men dedicated themselves to “breaking the cycle” of previous generations, to end the violence and to re-take their families, their schools and their neighborhoods for Christ. Shortly after the altar call, two visiting young ladies gave their lives to Christ and vowed to begin new lives in Christ Jesus.

What an amazing spectacle to see a large group of men respond to the Holy Spirit in such a profound way. I continue to deliver the same message throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties, and God is performing signs and wonders as a result.

Update in the Battle for Men’s Souls

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2004 there were 113,000,000 men in America 15 years of age and older, with about 15,000,000 of those men 15 – 21 years of age. How big is your men’s ministry? Find out more in the October 2, 2006 edition of the Weekly Briefing.

Good Christian Men Rejoice!

According to a recent Gallup Poll (Dec. 8, 2006) men were less stressed that women during the holidays! Only 31% of men surveyed called the holidays very or somewhat stressful compared to 45% of women.

You can read more about what God says about rest and the Sabbath in Patrick Morley’s new book, A Man’s Guide to Spiritual Disciplines.

“…and a Happy New Year.”

“… I now place a lot more emphasis on my family, my children, and above all my wife. What a dramatic improvement this has produced in my marriage, my career, and my life. I'm more content and happier than I've ever been.” Frank Dindl shared this with us after hearing Patrick speak at a men’s event that there is more to life than money and career success.

What difference could a men’s event mean in the lives of men in your church? Host a Man in the Mirror seminar this year. They will walk you through it step by step. You can make a difference in the lives of the men (and their families) in your church. Click here to schedule your next seminar.
