The men of FMI also want to again thank Pastor Mark Coffey, Steve Haynes and the men at Community Life Center in Port Charlotte for helping us break new ground in the ministry by partnering with us last October in providing FMI's first men's conference. Without their support and encouragement, we

could not have moved forward in our efforts to provide a vehicle through conferences for local churches to use to build their ministries for men. What we can do together is better than what we can do alone for The Kingdom!

GOD'S GREAT WORKS: God Continues to Do a Great Work All Around Us

Jail Alternative to Substance Abuse (JASA) partnered with FMI to offer an effective program in recovery and rehabilitation for inmates in the Highlands and Polk County areas.

Through JASA, Christ is shared with the inmates over 10 weeks (or 25 hours). In the aftercare program they study the Bible weekly until they are released. The aftercare and outreach ministry program visits the inmates' family members and friends, often leading them to Christ. The results of this ministry are immeasurable.

With two graduated classes, 22 men received Christ and 13 are firmly grounded in the Word and growing. 19 family members received Christ through home visits. Because of the success from this treatment program, a women's JASA program will start this summer. We need volunteers and prayer support in the Highlands and Polk County areas. We are praising God for this Great Work and giving Him the Glory for all the results of lives touched and saved for time and eternity!

For Once-Every-Decade Event

WASHINGTON, DC – The men of America are being invited to return to the grounds of the Washington Monument in Washington, DC, on October 6^th for a national gathering of men called Stand in the Gap 2007.

“We are urging men to return, remember, renew and rebuild their commitment to God, their families, churches, neighborhoods, communities and the nation,” said the event's chief organizer, Marty Granger, founder and president of Faith in the Family International. The emphasis of this event is to call generations of men together, with full respect for all denominations, ages, races, and ethnic groups. Its purpose is to honor God, hear from God, and to embolden each man to leave a legacy of spiritual leadership and faithfulness from one generation to the next. Florida Men of Integrity is the field ministry in the State of Florida for the National Coalition of Men's Ministries.

The NCMM is a concerted effort by all segments of the Christian church to join in brotherhood, unity and mission in order to increase the overall effectiveness of reaching and discipling men in America.

The NCMM provides a forum for Christian leaders to meet and share resources, vision, ideas, build unity, and strive to eliminate competition, suspicion and duplication.

“Americans frequently engage others in conversations about faith and spirituality. More than two out of every five (44%) say they discussed a specific spiritual issue or belief in the last month with someone who belongs to a different faith,” according to Barna Research.

For Your Kids: Study Shows Religion is Good for Kids

Kids with religious parents are better behaved and adjusted than other children, according to a new study that is the first to look at the effects of religion on young child development.

Kids whose parents regularly attended religious services -- especially when both parents did so frequently -- and talked with their kids about religion were rated by both parents and teachers as having better self-control, social skills and approaches to learning than kids with non-religious parents.

National Men’s Conference: NCMM Report

Men's leaders from around the country gathered in Kansas City in April for the annual National Coalition of Men's Ministries Conference, Momentum . For Man in the Mirror, it was an opportunity to roll out disciplemen.com, the new website for the men's discipleship movement.

Well over half the attendees registered on the site during the weekend, and proudly wore their “I'm in!” stickers. Many ministries began listing their materials in the Best Practices & Resources Center.

Over in the Man in the Mirror booth, Jim Angelakos and Bob Keiderling talked with a steady stream of leaders about reaching and discipling men. Inside the conference, great speakers like Steve Ferrar and Joe Garlington spoke, and Pat, David and Brett presented at well-attended workshops on spiritual disciplines and the No Man Left Behind model.
