After watching a PBS documentary titled "The Jewish Americans," Pastor Young learned that nearly two-thirds of the out-of-state volunteers who participated in 1964's Freedom Summer campaign to register black voters in Mississippi were Jewish, and that they had risked their lives and businesses on behalf of the civil rights movement.

According to Pastor Young, he and his white co-pastor (Tony Yarborough) held a ceremony at the church in which an apology for historical wrongs was offered and accepted, and "…it was at that point (after three years) that we became a truly integrated congregation." He went on to state that, "…reconciliation is only possible when someone admits to doing wrong and asks for forgiveness, and someone else is willing to forgive."

"True Christianity is about relationships. It is about your relationship with God and your relationship with your fellow man," Pastor Young said. "He wants us to forgive one another, to be reconciled with one another and to love one another. That is why we're doing what we're doing."

Pastor Young and Rabbi Keyes came together to heal a 40-year-old divide. It was healed by the power of our living God! Pastor James Young serves on FMI’s Executive Advisory Council.

The ISI conference was amazing. I was battling with myself and also some internal struggles. I really feel like I was re-motivated and also it made me excited again. Really set me on fire! Also the conference motivated me 2 pray for a brother to bring up. I really enjoyed what they said about trust, truth, Jesus. I am looking forward to the next one. This was my first Christian conference. It was one of the most incredable and moving experiences of my life. As men we long for fellowship and to be amongst brothers who love us as we are. This so often seems so hard to find and when you do find it how do you really know. As men, we gathered and cried out to the Lord and he answered. That day I had no doubts. My brothers met me at the altar and we wept in the presence of the Lord. – Mick Brown

The Iron Sharpens Iron conference held in Tequesta was indeed a blessing. It was a power filled event that hit me straight in the heart. It is always an awesome thing to experience God working through the hearts of his faithful and when it occurs through so many willing brothers it cant help but change hearts and lives.
