(That’s right - No more ‘BETA’!!!)
On behalf of all of us here at disciplemen.com, I’m excited to announce that our next round of updates have gone live at www.disciplemen.com! The site continues to grow with now more than 2000 current members and some 600 best practices and resources available for use, review and rating by the members. So, we will be launching the site out of BETA and into the real world.
Thanks for the all the input and work from so many leaders all around the country. Without your involvement, we could not have gotten this far. Keep reading to find out how you can continue to help us develop the site.
We’ve had great feedback from users including requests for features and an update to the “look and feel.” As you will see by the list of enhancements below, we’ve listened…
- New theme/look and feel of the site
- Greater functionality in the Members Directory
- New ways to sort members/find others in the Members Directory
- The ability to invite a friend directly from the site
- Direct-link to your resources on your site, Amazon and Christianbook.com (if available)
- The ability to add ‘Connections’ to other users of disciplemen.com
- Private messaging between members
- An entirely new profile structure including:
- Ability to set your profile page as your login page on the site
- # of connections you’ve made on the site
- Profile completeness tracking to show how involved you are on the site!
- Education information
- Occupation information
- Your recent activities on the site
- Resources you’ve shared with the community
- Access to the internal messaging system
- New polls for users to help shape the site
- Images for the various resource types
- The ability to see how many downloads each resource has had
- Notification to you when someone uses a resource you have submitted
- Ability to earn more user points
- Searches enabled in the Forums
- Refined search criteria throughout the website
- See who the newest members are
- An updated 5 –Star rating system
- All this and a whole lot more!
In the coming weeks, we will send Insiders Updates that focus on specific parts of the new release. These will help you understand how to best use this new functionality. The first of these should be in your Inbox in the next few weeks and it will focus on the new profile layout and functionality.
In addition to all of this, here’s a small preview of some of the exciting features coming soon:
- Groups – the ability to create your own groups on the site
- How-To Courses – ability to see what other courses people have taken and let others see what YOU’RE taking as well
- New ways to sort items in the BP&R including limiting number of items viewed per page
Now here is a call to action for all of you – we need YOU to:
- Log in and update your profile
- Upload resources, especially those developed by your church or ministry – so that other leaders can benefit from your experience. (Graphics, spreadsheets, logos, calendars, newsletters, articles, powerpoints – all are welcome.)
- Invite your friends/co-workers/acquaintances - whomever you feel might benefit from using the site
- GIVE US FEEDBACK - Use the forums, send me an email, rent a carrier pigeon – but PLEASE let us know how you’re using the site. Is it helping in your area of ministry? How easy are you finding it to use? What else would you like to see? What will make it more useful to you?
As we move into the second half of 2008 we will begin announcing disciplemen.com to the rest of the world. Thank you for helping to serve every men’s leader in America who wants to reach and disciple the men of his community.
