AN UPDATE FROM MAN IN THE MIRROR

Hi men. This is Bob Keiderling. I'm a National Ministry Consultant and trainer with Man in the Mirror. One of my roles at MIM is working with UMM. I want to let you know about what God is doing through our relationship. Just since the beginning of the year, six United Methodist churches have scheduled a "No Man Left Behind," a 2 1/2 day training for men who have a desire to start a disciple-making ministry to men in their church. These UMC hosted events will take place in NC, Houston, Dallas, Alabama, and this fall in Louisiana. A successful training event was recently held at Christ UMC in Jackson, MS.

Also since the first of the year, I've received calls from 25-30 Methodist churches concerning training and obtaining the "No Man Left Behind" book. I'm excited about the eagerness I'm seeing in pastors and leaders to see their men make Christ real in their lives. If you are interested in building into the men in your church by using the events and best practices of your church to take men to next spiritual maturity level, I would encourage you to:

  • Get No Man Left Behind for you and your leaders.
  • Get to a training event. UMM charter groups get a significant discount.
  • Host a training event. The churches in your community will benefit also.

To find out more, call me at 800-929-2536 ext. 122 or email me at bobkeiderling@maninthemirror.org. I look forward talking with you.

Learn From Others: A Leader Shares His Strategy for Reaching Men

“We have made a conscious effort to tailor our events and programs with the ‘end user’ (men) in mind along the lines of the open-closed continuum,” writes one leader on the No Man Left Behind Blog. What in the world does he mean by that? Find out when you visit the blog and read more about how he used the
create-capture-sustain model to minister to the men in his church. Add your own comments!

Did You Know? Pastors and Prayer

According to Pulpit and Pew, full-time pastors average a 50 hour work week and part-time pastors average working 25.02 hours per week. Of those hours, the full-time pastors spend 8 hours a week in prayer, and the part-time pastors spend 6 hours in prayer. In the new book A Man’s Guide to the Spiritual Disciplines, Pat Morley talks about “A Man and Prayer.” He points out that one characteristic of men who pray is they believe that prayer is the most powerful use of their time – more powerful than labor. Read more about it here.

Broaden Your Impact: Are You a Fourth Seed Leader?

In the parable of the sower, Jesus described seed falling on four different types of soil. The seed that fell on good soil – the fourth seed – reproduced itself 30, 60 or 100 times. Man in the Mirror stands ready to help you reproduce yourself like that ‘fourth seed.’ By hosting a regional training for leaders, bringing a seminar to your church, or distributing books for about a dollar in your church, community or workplace, you can be a Fourth Seed Leader. Want to take that next step? Contact Bob Keiderling at 800-929-2536 ext. 122 or bobkeiderling@maninthemirror.org today.

Raise A Godly Son: The Corinthian Man-Creed

Crosswalk.com featured an article by Shawn McEvoy in which he explains five principles he shares with his son to live a life of godly manhood. Shawn writes, “I don’t know about the other guys out there, but it definitely helps me to have something to live by, something to recite, something to write on my heart, ponder the meaning of, and connect to other scriptures as I strive to be a man after God’s own heart.” Read more by clicking here.
