Paul says in Ephesians 4:11-12 that pastors are God's gift to His church. We receive them as gifts when we show appreciation for the many sacrifices they make for us. October is Pastor's Appreciation Month! What a great opportunity to minister to your pastor. Want some suggestions?

• Send his wife flowers and a thank you note.
• Email or “hand write” a letter of encouragement to him.
• Invite him to go fishing, golfing, or some other shared interest.
• Help him enjoy a date with his wife by watching his children.
• Mow his lawn – wash his car – plant flowers at his home.
• PRAY FOR HIM!

Above all, remember your pastor is a man who needs encouragement, just like you. And to all the pastors reading this: we love you. Thank you for the many sacrifices you make for the Kingdom.

Prayer is a major key to bucking the trend of moral decline among our pastors. It’s an easy yet effective way for congregations to support and affirm their pastors, which in turn reduces emotional insecurities and doubts that often open the door to temptation.
