Give More to Your Family From Fathers.com
Cameron Stracher is a busy working dad. He's a law professor in New York who also does legal work, with a long commute to and from work every day. Several years ago, he found himself feeling "over-extended, over-committed and physically exhausted," and very out-of-touch with his family.
Read more in the article about how he made the commitment to give more to his family. Here are a couple of action points from the article:
-Get your family calendar and, as a family, figure out how you can eat dinner together at least one more day each week. Offer to cook that meal. -Spend time thinking about how your children have grown and changed in the last twelve months. What issues are they dealing with now, and what challenges will each of them face during the next year? |

CEUs 4 UMC@NMLBC 10 UMC Pastors Get CEUs at the No Man Left Behind Conference in South Carolina
At the recent No Man Left Behind Conference in Columbia, South Carolina, ten pastors got a little more than just some great training and planning time with their men. They also received much needed CEU's towards their requirement as Methodist clergy. The NMLB Conference was recently approved by the United Methodist Church to meet their obligations for ongoing learning and education. We're excited and gratified at the UMC's recognition of the quality and application of these concepts as they seek to disciple all the men (women and children, too!) in their churches.
Methodist pastors: Register with your men for an upcoming NMLB conference and be sure to let us know you're a pastor. We'll submit your information so you get credit! Plus, pastors can come to the training with their men on a full or partial scholarship. Call today for more information: 800-929-2536. |
Are You Trained? An Article You May Have Missed

In April 28th's Weekly Briefing, Pat Morley tells leaders to challenge and train their men for spiritual power. Male Friendship
"Saying nothing sometimes says the most." - Dickinson
"Men often know one another's deepest feelings through the efficient expression of a look or a nod -- not by talking," reports William Speed Weed (yes, that's really his name) in an article all about the "rules" of male friendship. Friendship is built on trust. Disclosure, reciprocity, and intention form solid relationships between men. Friendship in the past has been gauged in a very feminine way - keeping in close contact on a daily basis and sharing the detailed minutiae of their lives. According to the article, "Male friends do more together but talk less than female friends. Yet that doesn't make male friendship any less remarkable or important." Read the rest of the article here.
Brothers! describes the process men go through in developing accountable relationships.
"This is the best book out there for men's small group leaders," says Brett Clemmer, VP of Leadership Development here at Man in the Mirror.

Church Spotlight A story of a church utilizing MIM resources effectively
When one leader found out that the Books for About a Dollar program would be offering Donald Miller's Searching For God Knows What, she couldn't wait to order them. Having already read the book twice, she first went through it with a small group of people in their 20s. Each meeting, long and provocative discussions were generated just by reading a couple chapters per week. The small group members found themselves being challenged by the perspectives and ideas in the book to take Jesus out of the box they'd packed Him into and explore the relational aspect of their faith more deeply.
Before long, word spread, and soon the entire church began reading Searching for God Knows What together! A series of sermons was planned based on concepts in the book and a panel was even established for interactive question and answer time. Because one leader recognized the power within a resource to ignite a deep love and understanding of Christ in new believers, unbelievers, and longtime believers, an entire congregation was impacted by what began with a case of books.

No Man Left Behind Goes to Europe Report from Jeff Kisiah (Coach "K")
A team of four men of Harvest Community Church took a 10-day short-term mission trip to Hungary, Croatia and Serbia. Our strategic focus was to conduct "No Man Left Behind" conferences in these three countries, being invited for this purpose by the missionaries in the field. We definitely sensed your prayerful support during this time!
One of our guys, David Pamperin, has built a web page filled with stories and pictures from this trip. You can check it out here.
