Celebrating 20 Years of Ministry

The year was 1986. A small group of businessmen talked the owner of a lounge into allowing them to meet on Friday mornings for Bible Study. That small group of men soon outgrew the lounge, and had to move to a civic center. It has spawned a best selling book, an entire ministry, and an internet presence that accounts for thousands of men studying the Bible every week around the world. Join us in February for a special anniversary edition of the Man in the Mirror Bible Study in Winter Park, FL.

Go to www.mannthemirror.org/20thanniversary for more details on this and other special celebrations of the 20th year of the Man in the Mirror Bible Study.

This year, make a New Year’s resolution to pray with your wife regularly. Use a devotional book like Devotions for Couples (click here), keep a journal, or read a few verses of scripture together.

Are Your Kids Introverts or Extroverts?

Some kids are energized by being in a crowd, others by being alone. What charges your kids’ batteries? “Extroverts enjoy the external world of things, people and activities,” according to an article in USA Today. (Experts: Introverted youth have deep roots for behavior)  “While introverts are energized by retrieving long-term memories, problem solving, introspection, complex thinking and planning.” Wow, sounds like a good employee too!

Dads, what an important character trait to understand, especially if your child is the opposite of you! Check out other parenting tips at: www.christianfathers.com, www.familylife.com and www.fathers.com

Wheels of Faith Motorcycle Ministry

On March 3rd – 12th 2006, thousands of people are putting on a leather jacket and mounting their hog or street bike and heading for Daytona Beach, FL for Bike Week. This is the place where leather jackets, tattoos and Harleys rule. But Wheels of Faith, a group of bikers from Orlando, FL, adds a black leather Bible too.

Wheels of Faith Motorcycle Ministry and Riding Fellowship started at Faith Assembly of God of Orlando, FL. Members get together and ride as a “pack” for fun and fellowship. Wheels also travels to events like Bike Week to share the gospel.  Check it out at:  www.wheelsoffaithmm.org

We need “Your Stuff”!

As we build the Leadership Community in 2006, one part will be an online area of shared resources.  By mid-year, we expect to have a “library” of men’s ministry expertise available for leaders like you to go to for the ‘best practices’ in ministry to men through the local church.  So far we have received submissions for disaster relief, mission statements, logos, and names.

If you have an event that has worked particularly well, a book or resource you used for a small group or Sunday School class, or any other ideas on men’s ministry you think would help others, submit them now to brettclemmer@maninthemirror.org. Please be sure to include your name, e-mail, phone number and best time to call, the name of your church and its city/state.

The Leadership Community: Gathering and connecting leaders who are discipling men.
