CBN: Kids Need Their Dads
In a 2004 Father's Day interview
with CBN News, Man in the Mirror founder Patrick Morley commented on a
disturbing statistic: 34 percent of children go to bed without their biological
fathers in the home.
"If you don't have enough
time for your children, you are not following God's will for your life,"
said Morley.
Morley suggested that men need
to make "deposits" into the lives of their children. One of the most important
deposits is encouragement. Morley said, "Men, I exhort you, in the
name of Christ, encourage your kids with words. Tell them every day."
He added, "There are two
phrases that your kids ought to be hearing every day, multiple times,
every day. And those two phrases are, 'I love you,' and 'I'm proud of
you!'"
Morley says no amount of success
at work can compensate for failure at home. His simple advice to dads:
"Prioritize everything you do in life, based on who will be crying at
your funeral."
