Money
By Pat Morley
As American men, much of our time and energy is spent
on the things we already own or on making money to
pay for more. Materialism is the great American epidemic.
What should we think about this? Well three things
stand out.
- Don't own things you do not use on a regular basis.
- Don't own things just because you can.
- The more you give away the happier you will be.
That leads us to the problem of debt. You know the
kind of distress debt causes in your own life. It
leads to marital difficulties, anxiety about possessing
things we don't need and often don't want, and the
most important of all is the stress of paying it back.
The Bible has much to say about the issue of debt.
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is
servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7).
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing
debt to love one another (Romans 13:8).
