All-Pervasive Men's Ministry

Is men's ministry the 6 men who meet in a small group at 0'dark thirty on Wednesday morning? Is men's ministry the 12 white haired men who get together for pancakes one Saturday morning each month? Men's ministry is not just a separate men's only group or gathering, although that too. It's so much more.

By now I hope you have heard us talk about All-Inclusive Men's Ministry. All-Inclusive Men's Ministry means that if you have 100 men in your church, then the size of your men's ministry is 100.

All-Pervasive Men's Ministry, on the other hand, means that wherever men are, that's where the men's ministry is. Anything that disciples a man is men's ministry (or if you prefer, ministry to men).

Jesus did not say, "Come and be discipled." He said, "Go and make disciples." So go where the men are: the worship service, Sunday school, sports leagues, parking cars, teaching middle school boys, ushering, or fixing broken appliances for widows. Men can become disciples through sermons, home groups, lunch with friends, men's small groups, couples Bible studies, marriage retreats, adventure trips, and you name it.

Discipleship for Jesus was all-pervasive. Everything Jesus did either a) called men to walk with Him, b) equipped men to be like Him, or c) sent men to work for Him. That is discipleship: calling, equipping, and sending men. Therefore, in all your interactions with every man in every setting, think about how to disciple him into the gospel of Jesus. And be careful not to send the message to men who are not part of your group or gathering that they are outsiders.

For the glory of Christ and no other reason,

Pat Morley
